It is a light yellow and brown liquid with an earthy and sweet scent. Patchouli essential oil is used in traditional Asian medicine to treat skin and hair problems like dermatitis, eczema, acne, dry skin, dandruff, and oily scalp. It is also used in aromatherapy as a relief to anxiety, stress, and depression.

Patchouli essential oil has antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, and diuretic properties. It can be used to fight and protect the skin from fungal growth and help soothe inflamation and irritation. It can be used to heal cuts and sores when applied directly and even works as an insect repellent. Similar to wine, patchouli essential oil improves with age bringing greater benefits to the skin over time.
